A standard working group was established in IEC in the field of DC protection technology for the first time

On February 20th, it was learned from the official website of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that the IEC DC Protection Standard Working Group (TC95/WG3) jointly sponsored by the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Research Institute was formally established.

This is the first time that a standard working group has been established in IEC in the field of DC protection technology, with experts from 11 countries including France, the United States and the United Kingdom participating.

With the continuous application of DC technology in the field of power transmission and distribution, the protection requirements of DC power transmission and distribution systems and equipment are increasingly urgent. After more than two years of investigation and demonstration, IEC Technical Committee for Measuring Relays and Protection Devices (IEC TC95) finally decided to establish DC Protection Standard Working Group (WG3), which is responsible for formulating the international standardization road-map for DC transmission and distribution protection, compiling technical reports on functional requirements for DC transmission and distribution protection, and planning a series of international standards in the field of DC protection. The aim is to improve the international standardization level of DC transmission and distribution system protection and promote the further development and application of global DC technology.

The working group will be responsible for compiling technical report of IEC DC protection function requirements , strengthening international standardization layout in the field of DC protection technology and simultaneously establishing domestic counterpart working group to provide "China protection scheme" for world DC projects and enhance the international influence of DC protection technology in China.
